Jelena Vasiljević (PhD University of Belgrade) is a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade, where she also serves as Vice-Chair of the Governing Board and as Coordinator of the Laboratory for Philanthropy, Solidarity, and Care Studies.
Her background is in political anthropology and citizenship studies, with expertise and research interests in theories of citizenship, citizenship transformations in the post-Yugoslav states, memory politics, civic engagement, and social movements in Southeast Europe. Presently, she is primarily interested in theories and practices of solidarity.
She worked as a researcher and fellow at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Graz. She is the author and co-author of three monographs, has published dozens of academic and professional papers and has participated in numerous domestic and international research projects, as well as projects run by civil society organizations. She is a member of the International Board of Trustees of the European Alternatives.
